The train

I encountered this gentleman on the way to work last week and he was happy for me to share his photo. He has his phone and his mask and his tatts and his hat backwards. He is the very picture of 2021. Yet he is feeding on the meditations of Marcus Aurelius, a work that is over 1800 years old. I found this so reassuring. We had a chat and he told me how much he preferred Seneca, as do I. I wished I was staying on a few more stops to keep talking. As long as the young keep reading philosophy on trains, there is hope for us all!
